Hashtag: mom life

I’m not going to lie, we had grown quite accustomed to our simple life with one toddler. Not that she doesn’t present plenty of challenges, but the “work” of tending to her needs pales in comparison to that of a baby.

Put the two together, and I have a physically exhausting little person (baby) and a mentally exhausting one (toddler). Nearly four months later, we’re still there.

But there is absolutely nothing that more accurately depicts life with a new baby than the scenario I present to you, which actually took place a month or two ago, because mom life.

There we were, in the middle of our church service (which we were likely late to, but that has more to do with the farmer than the wife and two children who were probably sitting in the car waiting for him, but that’s really neither here nor there), when Brandon leaned over and asked me, “Do you have poop on you or something?”

And y’all, I actually had to take a minute to ponder whether or not this was a likely possibility.

When I couldn’t recall an event that particular morning where I could have been covered in fecal matter, nor could I find any upon quick inspection, I told him, “No, I don’t think so. I mean, it’s always a possibility, but I don’t think it happened today.”

“Well, it sure smells like it,” he said.

I had showered that morning, so there was no chance of residual baby fluids. Then I offered the only explanation I could come up with: “Dried milk, maybe?”

“Maybe…but that’s still pretty gross.”

Agreed, Husband. Agreed. Welcome to my life.
