2015 is lookin’ good

by Katie on January 12, 2015

So, I mentioned how we actually had a New Year’s Eve date this year already. But I did not mention the best part of it.

After the pre-game lunch, the game, and the post-game dinner out, we ended up home somewhere around 8:30pm. And we were both wiped. Brandon had planted wheat until the wee hours of the morning, and I had slept for maybe a total of 2.5 hours the night before, due to toddler allergies that cause some middle-of-the-night puking and culminated in Mama sharing a couch with said toddler. How I even kept my eyes open until 8:30 remains a mystery.

I digress…

We were beat. And old enough to not be ashamed to admit we crashed before 9pm on New Year’s Eve (after checking in with the in-laws on Leyton to be sure she was having a better night).

I was so exhausted from a missed night’s sleep topped off with an entire day out that by the time Brandon got me out of bed (which is entirely opposite of every other day of the entire year around here) sometime before 7am, I entered a kitchen boasting with the aroma of an omelet cooking away in the skillet and a hot cup of coffee waiting for me.

[This is the best picture I managed to get for evidence. Primarily due to a lack of cooperation on Brandon's part. He didn't find humor in my need to document the occasion.] [This is the best picture I managed to get for evidence. Primarily due to a lack of cooperation on Brandon’s part. “Uh, yeah, …I wouldn’t go getting any ideas if I were you,” Brandon replied.

And I won’t.

But a girl can dream.

Because the last time that scenario happened? Leyton was six days old. She turns two in less than one month.

But, 2015, you sure started out right. Even if it was the only day of the year.

Thank you, Husband. Looking forward to every day of 2015 with you, breakfast or not.
