Meat and potatoes guy

I have always known Brandon was a meat and potatoes guy. He makes that very clear. So what happened yesterday shouldn’t surprise me at all.

I cooked a whole chicken over the weekend to have some shredded meat to use for various dishes. When I used half a can of biscuits in a breakfast casserole dish, I knew I had to use the other half for a chicken pot pie. Which would have been perfect, had I had any mixed veggies on hand. But I did not.

So, after our failed attempt at attending church (more on that later), I asked Brandon if we could swing by the grocery store so I could run in to grab some mixed vegetables to make my chicken pot pie.

“Or you could just make it without the vegetables?” he offered.

“What do you want me to do? Make a pot pie that’s just chicken and cream of chicken with biscuits on top?”

“Yes. What’s wrong with that?”

But I got my vegetables anyway. Later that afternoon, when he returned from feeding cows and handling some farm business, I let him know the pot pie was ready.

“Let me guess,” he said, “It has vegetables too. Ridiculous.”

Yes, Dear, you’re right. That is the ridiculous part of this story.
