A beginning lesson on why girls are more expensive

So, a few weeks ago, this happened:


All that would be just a portion of the $40 of clearance ribbon I purchased.To make hairbows. For a baby. Who won’t be here until next year.

The next morning, I was sorting through my loot at the kitchen table while Brandon ate his breakfast.

“You’re really getting into this whole thing,” he said.

“What thing?” I innocently asked.

“The whole ‘having a girl’ thing,” he clarified, “It’s a little out of character. A little surprising.”

“Brandon, do you not know where I’m from? If you have a girl, she has bows. Lots of bows. Big bows.”

“Still, it’s surprising how into it you’re getting.” He held his ground.

“Well, I can tell you one thing. You better keep on selling hay because having a girl is going to be a lot more expensive.”

“I’m okay with that,” he said. And good thing. Because he didn’t really have a choice…
