A bright spot

by Katie on August 15, 2012

As is the case with all tragic situations, you spend time praying for healing and doing what you can to ensure everyone is taken care of, but also have to keep living life.

We got a bright spot in the midst of everything in the form of this handsome face:

And yes, that would be another “little” brother…all six feet and two inches of him. Let’s just say I no longer have any authority whatsoever.

Due to everything we had going on, he spent most of his time riding along with me on the retriever truck or with Brandon to handle some irrigation water. We did manage to squeeze in a couple dips in the pool and sent him off to a matinee movie with Brandon’s brother Justin.

There was also what I just know was the highlight of his five days in Arizona:  his first 5k I coerced asked him to run with me over the weekend:

This was obviously a "before" picture. And proof I should have more vanity.

And his last night in town, we even got a certain farmer to entertain us with a few games of bowling:

It had been four whole years since Morgan had made it out to the desert, so the visit was long overdue and much enjoyed on our end. He moves off to college in just ten days, which I’m still having trouble wrapping my head around.

A very welcome bright face in a dark week, for sure.
