It all goes to your gut

We have already established several eating patterns here.

  1. Brandon eats very fast.
  2. Brandon eats, well, …a lot.


Last week, we were each enjoying one of the 48 cookies Brandon’s mom made for us for Valentine’s Day. Wait, I take that back. One of us was enjoying it. The other was inhaling it.

After Brandon had completely consumed his mega-heart-cookie in a mere two bites and was reaching for another, I told him, “That’s why you’re getting a belly. You eat everything in 2.7 seconds. I still have six bites, minimum, left on my cookie.”

“What’s the difference if I eat it in 2.7 seconds or you eat it in three minutes?” he asked. “It all goes to your gut. There’s no stopping it. It’s not like yours doesn’t just because you eat it slower. I just like to speed up the digestion process and get on with my day.”

I tried to explain the whole theory about how eating slower leads to eating less. (Case in point, I did not have a second cookie. Not right then, anyway. I at least waited an hour.)

Needless to say, I don’t think it worked.
