Keeping Katie humble

by Katie on January 26, 2012

A couple nights ago, we enjoyed some lasagna for supper. Which, normally, would not be noteworthy.

But this lasagna? This lasagna was noteworthy.

So much so, that by the time I went to take my first bite, Brandon had already given it major props at least three times. When I tasted it for myself, I had to agree.

“You were right,” I said, “This is really good.”

“I told you,” he said, “If you’ve ever made a ten, this is it. It’s so good.”

He may have even added on to that little string of praise. Bottom line:  supper was good. And Brandon was more than good about letting me know.

But myself?

Well, I just couldn’t leave well enough alone. And we all know what happens when I get a little confidence stirred up inside.

So, I sat up a little straighter at the table. Adjusted the napkin in my lap just so. Raised my water glass into the air a bit for effect. And began my presentation.

“Well, of course it is,” I began, with all the haughtiness this little Texas girl could muster, “I mean, who do you think you married?”

And then I tipped my water glass over, to take a little sip, still for effect here…

And proceeded to pour half the glass down my face and into my plate of most-amazing-lasagna-ever.

Brandon doesn’t need any help keeping me humble. I take care of that all on my own.
