Stuck between a rock and a hard place

by Katie on November 30, 2010

The day before Thanksgiving was a big day for the Leisters.

We had to drive all the way across town, in our “go-to-town” digs of course, to Farm Credit to sign our lives away. Otherwise known as Farm Operating Loan Closing Day.

After we had each signed our name 17 times, Brandon got to a three page document he was inspecting awfully closely before making any ink marks.

I glanced over his shoulder and asked, “Did you get to the one where we have to sign over our second-born to them too, instead of just the first, or something?”

“Huh, kind of,” he said. “I’ll tell you this for sure though:  you won’t be leaving me anytime soon.”

“Oh, so this is the one that my signature means I’m stuck with you for the long haul then?” I asked, for clarification.

“Oh yeah,” he answered. “You’re not getting out of this, Baby. You and me, we’re stuck together after this one.”

“Hmmm,” I considered. “I might need to think about this a few minutes…”

Now, of course I was joking.

But really. I’m stuck now. Pray for me.
